Q: Saturn SL2?
Does the 1993 Saturn SL2 have power mirrors? If not would it be easy to upgrade to power from manual?
A: Believe it or not the Saturn has ONE power and one manual mirror (only GM would do this). Very easy to upgrade (downgrade?) to manual mirrors.
Q: What mods will make a 94 Saturn SL2 go faster?
Alright, so I have a 1994 Saturn SL2. I want to make it a little bit quicker. I don't need it to be a racer, but I would like it to at least have some balls. The 123 horsepower just isn't enough. LOL!
As I said all you smart a** people. I don't want a racer, I just want something that has a little get up and go without sacrificing the gas mileage.
A: Cold air intake would be something pretty fast and easy. After that you might want to look for some performance chips, which usually make you need to run 91 octane. Then exhaust change and last I would say a turbo which cost thousands. Those are all from lowest to highest cost. Before a turbo I might say do an engine swap, just not sure how expensive the engine swap wound be compared to a turbo.
Q: How Long can I expect a 96 Saturn SL2 to run for?
I am looking at a 96 saturn SL2 that has 118K miles on it. The guy wants 1800 for it. Is this a good or bad deal? What problems can I expect to have in the next 20K miles?
A: BAD DEAL- Though I support the American Car Market more than any other, the old Saturn's are anything but reliable. This is also not a very good price. I would expect no more than $1000 for it. To be honest, I do not believe it will even last more the next 20000 miles. My advise, stick to Asia with this one, buy a Civic.
Q: How do you remove the radio from a 2001 Saturn SL2?
I would like to remove the OEM radio from a 2001 Saturn SL2. What are the steps to do so?
A: The bezel over the radio is attached to the dash with clips. But this bezel is one piece that crosses over to the other side of the steering wheel.
IF YOU ARE CAREFULL, you can pull the bezel loose from around the radio area enough to access the 2 screws that hold the radio in the dash and work the radio out without having to completely remove the bezel from around the steering wheel.
The radio is secured in the dash with a 7mm screw on each side.
If you are afraid of breaking the bezel, it will require some further dash disassembly on the left side to completely remove the bezel.
Q: How do I disable an alarm on a 94' Saturn SL2?
I just recently got a Saturn SL2, 1994, and it has this extremely terrible alarm installed on it. It chirps every time you touch it, or a Fedex truck goes by. Its very sensitive to touch and it doesn't like loud noises. I can't even press disarm on the remote because it rearms itself every 15 seconds. Does anyone know how to turn in off?
A: Cut the 12v. Positive wire that goes to the alarm.
Once it is deactivated you can go ahead and take it out of your car. Mine has an alarm also, but it doesnt work.
Q: Will an automatic transmission from any other 1998 Saturn SL2 fit my Saturn or what must I look for?
My car is also a 1998 Saturn SL2 and it would be helpful to know if a swap is done from the top or bottom of the car. I have been told different things. Thank you.
A: They made 2 different transmissions for these cars. The RPO code tag (little tag on spare tire cover in the trunk) will have either MP6 or MP7 on it (along with lots of other numbers). The trans you get will need to reflect the same number. It will be stamped on the top of the bell housing, but is extremely hard to see on the bell. These transmissions had a very high failure rate with their valve bodies. I would recommend pulling the trans out the bottom if at all possible. Ensure you have all proper tools and service information before you attempt it. It is better to know before than to get part way thru and not be able to complete the job. Good luck.

Q: Anyone had a similar problem with a 1998 Saturn SL2?
My dad owns a 98 Saturn SL2 with about 92,000 miles on it. A while back he checked the oil and it was almost all gone (he had just recently changed the oil). He took it to a Saturn dealership and they don't seem to know what's wrong either, but they did confirm that it was almost completely out of oil.
Now, he checks the oil about every 1,000 miles and it shows up about a 1/2-quart low every time. It's almost like the oil is just disappearing. By the way, NO OIL LEAKS WERE FOUND by the people at the Saturn dealership. Does anyone know what could be causing this, or why a car (especially a Saturn) with only 92,000 miles on it would be using so much oil? Thanks.
A: Change the PCV valve. It's located on the rear of the vavle cover. Make sure you get one for the correct application.
Q: What are the pros and cons of a Saturn SL2?
I am looking at a 2002 Saturn SL2, but I don't know If Its a good and dependable car. Please give me more info... If not tell me more... I want something good on gas, and cute. Any recommendations?
A: I would go for it, if its within a reasonable price. They are known to be dependable and great on gas, given you keep up on the maintenance. I haven't seen to many break down and the customers i've dealt with love their car.

Q: where is the fuel pressure regulator on a 1998 saturn sl2 and could someone tell me what installation entails?
i was told that might be what is wrong with my 1998 saturn sl2 double overhead cam. it starts hard and runs real rough for about 20 seconds and then its fine but when you start it you can smell gas and alot of black comes out the tailpipe thanks again for everyone help
A: According to Mitchel repair information, your car is NOT a returnless system. I found a Technical service bulletin for these symptoms for your vehicle... It basically says that the ignition/start switch is the likely problem with this specific problem in this specific vehicle.... You can probably research this yourself.. But your car definitely does have a fuel pressure regulator and it is in fact on the end of the fuel rail and has a vacuum hose attached to it..
