Q: How do I change the passenger side inner tie rod on a 1993 Saturn SL2?
Are there any special tools I might need, and what procedure do I follow? I've been trying to change this, along with the outer tie rod, but I can't get either one of them off. There is a large boot covering the far end of the inner tie rod, I can slide it back some, but I can't seem to get it off. Any suggestions would be great.
A: It would be a far to long answer to explain it step by step, but you can do it yourself. Get yourself a repair manual [Chilton or Haynes] most libraries carry them. A tool you will need is called a pickle fork to seperate the joint. Good luck

I have a 1993 Saturn that will not start. Battery is charged and alternator is new. Wires ok and contact points cleand. Have good lights, heater and full power. When I try to start the car, the only thing that happens is the dashboard lights and the parking lights start flashing. I need some good suggestions on this one folks. Anyone have this problem? This is as real as it is bazzar.
A: I worked for saturn for many years and you definately have an aftermarket starter disable alarm!!!
look for a little button under the steering wheel called a 'shunt' switch and press/hold it and turn the key! it'll run afterward!
Q: I have a 1993 Saturn sl2, what exactly is a quad driver output fault?
I found out from aamco that 4 trouble codes were coming up. My ck. engine light has been coming on (on & off) so they did the test....the # of the codes that came up were: 32, 26,&27,&74....I found out tonite codes 26 & 27 are quad driver output fault & quick quad driver output fault. I had bought an EGR valve,an EGR solenoid, a CTS transaxle sensor,& a pcv valve. Do I need some parts for the quad driveroutput fault? Please let me know...my friend is doing the work...and I'm trying to see what parts I need. Thankyou for ur help.
A: It most likely is a minor problem that you don't really need to spend a lot of money on if your car is running okay as it is. I drove a car with the check engine light on for over two hundred thousand miles. More often than not, it ends up being a sensor that is not worth fixing.

Q: I have a 1993 Saturn SL2.I recently replaced the master cyl. can't get the brake pedal to pump up.?
I've bled the brakes numerous times, including the master cyl., and antilock control. I get fluid out of all four wheels but the pedal won't pump up. The rear brakes are adjusted correctly,. I had a good brake pedal before the master cyl. went bad.
A: you need to try gravity bleeding it,that is a better method of removing air from the brakes,loosen a bleeder and place a small hose on the bleeder,and let each wheel drain in to a clear glass jar,this my give you a pedal back,there's a different procedure for bleeding abs brakes than regular brakes,and there's a good possibility not that the new master cylinder could be damaged on it,or it might not have been that good to start with,i have bought bad ones before,so don't rule out the master cylinder just yet,because its new doesn't mean its good,good luck with it.
Q: 1993 Saturn SL2 Motor, who made the motor? life expectancy?
i have a 93 saturn SL stick shift. i was told that the motor is korean. i believe GM made it but from my understanding Gm had different timeframes in which they were trusted and when they werent trusted. Does anybody know anything about this motor? is it american? asian motor? also i want to know what is the life expectancy of the motor. i know that if i maintain it on a regular basis it would last longer but i jus want to know the average motorlife of this car. A: Not sure who made it but mine had a problem because the hole for oil lubrication of the timing chain was too small. It got blocked and the timing chain broke and took the case out with it.

ok so..SC is the coupe, SL is the sedan. is there any way i could have a 2 door sl2 with a spoiler or is it definitly a SC2?

Q: Coolant Temp Senson 1993 Saturn SL2 1.9L DOHC?
I just recently purchased this vehicle. The electric fan was not working and I tracedit to either the CTS or the wiring itself. I figured the CTS wouldn't be hurt to replace anyway so I did. The problem is upon removal I found the CTS is broken. Literally. It was sheared off at some point. It was being held in place by some type of softweld. It's not JB - looks more like a exhaust mend type filler. I can re attach with a soft weld and the engine will continue running but this can't be a good situation.
How can I remove the old sensor when the threads are in the engine and the CTS is broken? Should I just re-weld (JB) the sensor so the vehicle continues running?
Never run across one like this before.
A: Use jb weld or something to glue it back together. Once it sets up hard (Give it a few days) then attempt to remove it.

In my last question i asked if it was normal for my car to have oil in the spark plug tubes and i found out that it most likley is a gasket leak, Which that is supposely what gave me such bad gas milage. About what would it cost to fix the gasket and how long will new plugs last if i put now ones in and oil is in there?

Q: Chirping/Chatter sounds coming from my 1993 Saturn SL2?
When I turn on my air conditioner, my car begins to chirp, usually when I'm idling. At first, I thought it was the air compressor, however, the other night, when I turned on JUST my headlights, nothing else, my car began to chirp again.
With that said, what are some possible causes of a chrip and how can it be fixed. I'll provide more details if needed. Thanks!
The car was on when I turned the headlights on. I turned the lights on, and when I put it into reverse/drive is when it began to squeak. Also, I took it to a mechanic when I got my oil changed and they said the belts look fine (I had them check that first)
A: the chirp will get worse as time goe on....the chip is caused by a bearing in the water pump....from what your saying it is happening as soon as your engine is feeling any load at all.....to find if what I,m saying is true....pop the hood and look to see what side of the engine has the drive belt....this will be where the waterpump is......then with your window open try to determine if this is the side where the chirp is coming from..hope this helps
Q: My odometer is frozen on my 1993 saturn sl2?
My odometer froze at 172,612 miles or something around there. It has been like that for a few months now. At first it would only work sporadically, now it doesn't work at all. The trip odometer does not track anything either, however it can be reset. This is an analog odometer with the spinning numbers...not a digital version. Is there a way I could fix it? Also I am planning on restoring this car and customizing it, is there a way I could replace the instrument cluster with something more digital oriented? In particular, I would like to replace the odometer with one that starts at zero miles...I don't ever plan to sell the car, but I would like it to be easier to track for maintenance after I restore and customize it.
A: Messing with the odometer? I dont think that is legal.

Q: I have a 1993 Saturn,1.9L, auto., SL2, I have a trouble code #15 come up, what needs fixing?
A: Codes 15 and 14 are Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) error codes. Since the ECT is so inexpensive ($9) and easy to replace, you might just replace it with a new one rather than testing the old one as below.
