Q: How to change a water pump on a 1994 Saturn SL2?
I am having problems with my car. I need to know how to change the water pump on it.

A: Its Easy!! Remove the battery, windshield washer tank, and carbon cannister. put blocks under your engine to support it when you take the right side motor mount off (right side of the CAR), Remove the valve covers , remove the belts, then the hoses, timing belt cover, and mark your timing belt-locations/placement of the cogs. Remove the right side motor-mount. remove the timing belt with Saturn tool number F-1210039-AF-000 to loosen the tensioner without losing the innards of the tensioner. Using your "L" shaped TORX wrenches (#35) remove the Water pump,. Replacement is the reverse, dont for get to buy all new gaskets, also for the Valve cover too!! Easy!

Q: What is the valve cover bolt head size on my 1994 saturn sl2?
I know its a torc head. does anyone know what size?

A: I believe it is a T30 torx

Q: I have a 1994 Saturn SL2 and it won't start?
The Saturn will crank, crank and crank some more and it seems that the battery drains really quick. It won't start and the battery drains really quickly when trying to start it. Can anybody suggest what may be the problem?

A: one word: ALTERNATOR Second groupings of workds: Saturns are the WORST cars in the world...i have a personal hatred of all things of the Saturn car world. i owned several and worked on them OVER AND OVER AND OVER...granted, their crappy 8 gal. tank seems to go forever...but you're giving up style and, more importantly, reliability. There's always SOMETHING on these cars and you need teeny tiny fingers to work on that "engine"... sorry dude, i don't mean to dis your car, but i owned and worked on them for so long that i really really hate them. A lot. I highly suggest changing the alternator. That usually solves the problem.

Q: 1994 saturn sl2 idles high after start?
when my mom starts her 1994 saturn sl2, it will idle really high for a second, then will go back to a normal idle, it started doing that after she got her oil changed at shitty ass walmart, i just want to make sure there isnt anything seriously wrong with it, because her job is pretty much driving around all day, and with out a car, she is screwed.

A: Well there is probably a "fast idle" solenoid that is supposed to kick in when cold engine starts! Possibly Wal Mart had nothing to do with it Though their service does not turn me on much since they refused to change oil on my 236,000 mile Acclaim because it had a valve lifter tapping, -- they said it was going to throw a rod, --( 6,000 miles ago)! Of course what would I know,- I have only been working on them for some 60 years! Anyway, the solenoid may not have been working at all, and now is partially working right, -- the injector is a good bet though, as if it doesn't stop the problem, it won't hurt anything anyway! If problem persists After that you might try cleaning out the throttle body with "choke and carburetter cleaner", - or have an independent garage do it for you , -- it is a simple job, and if they can figure out what a throttle body is, they can probably do just as well as agency garage for $75 an hour!! And of course a good tuneup might help if that does not do the job! Theoretically changing oil should have nothing at all to do with fuel system ,--------(unless they knocked a vacuum hose off or something) getting to oil filter! And of course mechanics are "human", and they make mistakes occasionally!!

Q: i need help my 1994 saturn SL2 turn over but won't start?
and it's not out of gas

A: Even though there are many things that can cause this, some of the things you will want to check first are: 1. First, turn the key to the "on" position and see if you can hear the hum of the fuel pump in the tank. If you cannot, it is possible the fuel pump is bad. In S-cars, if you have a problem in the fuel delivery system, the fuel pump will be it. 2. Second, check to see if you have spark. If you don't have spark, then you most likely have a bad ignition coil or ignition module. If you suspect this is the case, don't bother just buying a coil; pony up the dough to buy the ignition module from the dealer-it comes with new coils. You'll spend less money in the long run. 3. One other thing I've seen happen is the coolant temperature sensor go bad and cause the computer to think that the engine is either hotter or cooler than it really is and effectively flood the engine with fuel causing it not to start. Worth checking on if you have not replaced it before.

Q: 1994 Saturn SL2 problems??? Air bag light flashes upon start up!?
I have a 1994 Saturn SL2 and the check engine light comes on periodically. I have not had it checked out. I have noticed that when I turn my car on now...the airbag light flashes six times. I have been told that this is some kind of code. Is there a website that I can go to that can tell me what the flashing means.?

A: here are some ideas ,,,i think you can take it to auto zone and they will hook it up on the little computer and it will probably tell you,,they do it for free...The guys will tell you how to fix it as well or if its real easy like a fuse then some times one of them will do it for you. good luck

Q: 1994 Saturn SL2. I have replaced a good battery thinking it was that.?
The car sounds like it wants to start then just goes dead. Engine does not turn over it sounds like the battery but All lights, fans run. It sounds like it can't connect and draining the battery eventualy it just clicks. Could this be the starter, ignition or what? Thanks so much for any help.

A: Could be the starter, drawing to many amps and was wondering did you replace the battery with the correct size, could be the battery does not have the amperage to turn the engine over like when it is very cold out. You could take it to a shop that just does electrical work on cars only, not a general repair shop.

Q: Does any one know where i can get a Turbo Kit for my 1994 Saturn SL2?

A: yeah i don't think you should turbocharge that car in the first place. i mean, yeah turbocharge cars kick ass, but not for a saturn. maybe for cars like hondas, acuras, mitsubishis, toyota and nissan. it also depends on the car and i've seen the car you have, i don't think you should get a turbo kit. if anything, it'll cost you about 2 grand for a good and decent turbo kit, but your gonna need alot of work put into it which might cost a bit.

Q: I have a 1994 Saturn SL2 that dies when you come to a stop and has lack of power idles fine?
car idles fine in park but put it in drive and as soon as you take your foot of the gas at a stop sighn it tries to die and idles very low it just had a tune up ran perfect until the weater hit 30 below any ideas what I can try to get it running I miss my car

A: I actually would opt for ignition issues since it is temperature dependent. However, if you would like to rule-out catalytic easily. You go and buy an infra-red temperature gun... measure the temperature pre-catalytic, and post-catalytic. If there is a large temperature differential, you have a definite clogged catalytic. The catalytic for the Saturn is on the bottom of the car, mid-way between the exhaust manifold and the muffler. It's football shaped, you can't miss it. If you haven't already, I would suggest new spark plugs and wires. Along the way, clean the towers on the ignition coils. See what that does for your problem. You can also try a few fixes mentioned on this Y! Answer: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApsXhl2hq9MImPbPd09XsWwAAAAA?qid=20070322193002AAfEkYa ---- Another thing it may be, but less likely (as temperature doesn't play as much a role) is the fuel filter and/or fuel pump. Good luck.

Q: 1994 saturn sl2 manual trans?
Do you just put regular dot 3 brake fluid in the clutch fill?

A: Yes use regular dot 3 brake fluid to clutch system, it is a hydraulic system and if its low on clutch fluid it may very well have a slow leak. Possible bad clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder. BTW dont put the brake fluid in the manual trans lol
