Q: What type of transmission did GM put in The 2002 saturn SL2's and what Engines will fit and bolt up to it?
I Blew my motor in my car and I would like to know what engines would exactly bolt up to my transmission.
A: It depends on your engine size. If it is a 4 cylinder, it is a VTI transmission. If it is a 3.5 v6 by Honda, it is not a VTI. The 4 cylinder will only bolt to the VTI and the 3.5 will only bolt to a non- VTI. BTW, the VTI is under factory extended warranty to 70k miles.
Q: What do the dashboard light icons mean on my 2002 Saturn SL2?
I dont have a Owners manual and a warning light that is square with a litte flat partial line above the square and 2 triangles over a series of what looks like bumps inside the square are occaisionally appearing on the dash. What does the light mean?
A: On many cars means that it's running with a flat or low air pressure in one or more tires.
Q: 2002 saturn sl2 interior light out, door locks not working,....?
2002 saturn sl2 interior light out, door locks not working, when I open a door (any door) the trunk light comes on. checked all fuses all happend at the same time. I know is an electrical problem, but were? help!!
A: open your hood, look for any chewed up wires under your battery, or above your transmission. squirrels go in there for heat and chew them up. it's simple to fix and if your fuses are fine, thats all I can think of.
Q: How is the fuse for rear brake lights on a saturn 2002 SL2 labeled?
Its not the 15 amp brake fuse, must be something else. Is it in the passenger assembly, or on the engine block?
A: you have 2 fuses for your brake lights, one is located in the fuse block under the hood listed as BRAKE and is a blue15 amp fuse in slot 540
the other fuse is inside the car and is listed as cruise1 and is a red 10 amp mini fuse
also there is a TSB for the brake lamp housings about holding moisture which causes the sockets to corrode,
i would check for + voltage at the brake switch just above the brake pedal if both fuses check good, you should have voltage on both sides when pedal is pressed, and only on one side when pedal is at rest. if this checks out then check you're sockets and bulbs. also check you're grounds while you're in the trunk looking at the sockets.
Q: Problem starting with a 2002 Saturn SL2 sedan, i have to have my foot way down on the petal to get it to start
Since it is a newer car that is fuel injected, i am guessing it is maybe a fuel filter or some kind of cold start sensor. I don't try the car but i the driver, my wife said that it cuts out some times. I don't know if any one knows much about this car or had a similar problem but any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Brad
A: Fuel injected cars with plugged fuel filters will only run at about half throttle and die at idle. It`s the fuel filter.
Q: What is wrong with my 2002 Saturn SL2?
I have a large amount of vibration and road noise coming from my front end when going straight or left especially over 60MPH+, problem stops completely during a right turn. I bought my new tires about 45 days ago, and problem started within 2 weeks +has consistently become worse. Had rotation/digibalance/etc done and didn't fix problem. Mechanic friend says faulty tires, tire shop says no, dealers says possible ball joint problem, firestone says cv Joint. Does anyone really know what it truely is, I can do all the repairs myself, but don't have enough experience to locate/determine the exact problem.
A: is the noise from the front end? if yes and it goes away when making right turns, does the noise increes when turning left? If it does, I would suggest that you have a bad right front wheel bearing or axle joint. Joints like to click, bearings like to grouwl. to verify it's not a tire, rotate them and re-test. When rotating the tire also check for front end play, play in the wheel hub is indicative of a bearing. play in the knuckle is a steering/suspention joint that will ordinarily yeild noises over bumps not turns. C.V axles will usually apear tight and are usually diagnosed by ripped boots or noise.

Q: i have a misfire on a 2002 saturn sl2 what could be the problem?
on my 2002 sl2 i have a misfire on the #1 cylinder i have changed the plugs wires egnition module and coils and it still misses i even swapped the plug wires to make sure they were good and the spark plugs and still stayed on #1 the compression on all cylinders is around 180psi i was just wandering if it could be caused by the crank sensor and how could i check that besides that the only other thing i can think of is the fuel injector and i run cleaner through every oil change any ideas
A: A valve is sticking it sounds like. You need that valve replaced
Q: i have a 2002 saturn sl2 its missing on cylinder 1 new plugs wires coils ignition control module still misses?
i have a 2002 saturn sl2 replaced ignition control module coils plugs wires i have a haynes manual and checked it how it sais too does any one have any other ideas that could be wrong?
A: First thing I would do is swap 2 plugs, #1 and another cylinder, you may have a defective plug. If it still misfires on #1 cylinder,do a compression test. Both static AND running. All cylinders should be within 10%-15%, and you should have at least 60psi compression during the running compression test. If compression is poor, then I would suspect a valve problem. If compression is OK, I would swap fuel injectors with another cylinder and see if the miss follows the injector. You could have a plugged injector. Good Luck!!
Q: Wheel cylinder replacement cost 2002 Saturn SL2?
Well, my car did not pass PA state inspection. I had to get front wheel cylinders. The charges JUST for the labor itself was over $350.00 Does that sound about right? (I hope) I really felt strangled having to put this out today.
A: Wheel cylinders? for drum brakes? Do you mean calipers?.. I'm pretty sure there aren't any wheel cylinders in your front wheels.
Q: 2002 Saturn SL2 63k miles leaking coolant?
Our 2002 Saturn SL2 is leaking coolant. Thought maybe it was coming from the overflow container (since we do park outside it could have cracked.) Bought a new one at the dealer and put it on - still leaking. Is getting worse.
Can see it dripping from the bottom, but can't tell where it's coming from. Cannot find any hoses with leaks. We have not overheated.
When the coolant light comes on then we just add some more 50/50 but this is becoming frequent. My husband can replace most anything but not even sure where to look for the leak. The car has 63,000 on it and we drive it less than 500 miles per month.
Too bad cars aren't simple like they used to be.
Thanks for the reply! Interesting - it has had a little rattling sound for awhile now but I thought it was something unrelated. We bought a water pump and new gaskets and will put them on this weekend!!
A: a typical problem with our cars is the end tanks on the radiator like to crack (because their plastic). I would recommend looking here first. He may also have to use a small mirror device (similar to one you might find a dentist uses to inspect teeth) so that your able to see around and under the transmission coolant lines (if automatic) and other hoses. If it is the radiator don't be afraid as it is a rather simple job and can typically be done in about 1-2 hours. Another thing that might be possible is the gasket around the water pump or the pump itself is going bad and has started to leak (sometimes accompanied by a slight rattle) This is also a pretty easy job. Hope this helps.
Q: does anyone know where i can get the wheel offset for stock wheels for a 2002 saturn sl2 or what the offset is
i am wanting to get aftermarket wheels for my car and i cant figure out what the stock wheel offset is
A: some of the newer websites for aftermarket wheels will give you the offset.
Q: what kind of an engine is in the 2002 saturn sl2?
A: 1.9L (116 cubic inch) DOHC Inline 4-cylinder engine producing 124 hp (92 kW) and 122 ft·lbf (165 N·m).
Q: how do i add transmission fluid to a 2002 saturn SL2?
A: If you really mean the SL2 then there is a red dipstick at the front of the engine near the centerline of the car. You put a funnel in there and pour away (watch out for air bubbles!) If you mean an L-series car there is a red cap in the top of the transmission that you unscrew and put a funnel into then pour in the fluid. It is located above and to the left of the battery (standing in front of the car) and is several inches below the top of the engine but is visible without a flashlight.
Q: What's wrong with my son's Saturn 2002 SL2?
My son's Saturn 2002 SL2 starts and idles fine. When he accelerates to between 45 and 55 mph, the car won't go. The gas pedal is pushed in but no acceleration. It starts up again and idles ok and drives ok (most of the time) at slow speeds. It has been towed to the repair shop (where it now sits) twice, they've put it on the computer and find no problems. They can't fix it until they see it happen and we can't get them to drive it off their lot. Catch 22.
The car is currently at a non-Saturn shop as we trust these folks and they are cheaper than Saturn. Do I need to just bit the bullet and take it to Saturn? How will we know if it is the computer?
A: a major problem take it to saturn,,,,,
