Q: My "new" used 2003 Saturn Vue creaks when I make left turns. What could be the cause and is it dangerous?
I just got a "new" used 2003 Saturn Vue (automatic V6 with out the continously variable transmission) and noticed that when I turn left, more often than not it makes a creaking sound. Can't quite tell if it's coming from the interior or the exterior of the car. Think it could just be something that's too tight like strut or a shock or something? Or could it be more serious, like the axels? Anyone have any guesses?
A: Sounds to me like you have a dry ball joint or tie rod end. Since most of those joints are 'permanently lubricated' when new, they won't take grease. You'll need to have a shop verify that for you and the replacement shouldn't be too costly.
Q: How is the 2003 Saturn Vue?
I'm looking to get a 2003 Saturn Vue for 6500. Would it be worth my while to get it?
A: I love mine, its good on gas and has a fair amount of room, although if you have more than one child it might be too small.
Q: I was just driving down the street in my 2003 Saturn Vue & it lost power in the acceleration?
The RPM''s were working but the car was sucking power, barely accelerating. The Check Engine light & Reduced Power light came on so I drove it to the nearest shop. They were swamped so waiting on an answer. Any help with what this might be would be appreciated.
It's major transmission problems. Saturn dealership will back it hopefully.
A: Sounds like a failure in the fuel injection system. Most likely the O2 sensor failed. When this happens the computer switches to a "limp home mode" resulting in reduced power and drivability. Can't rule out other failures but this is the most common. Take it to the shop and they will hook it to the computer and be able to diagnosis this problem. Good luck.
Q: do you think a strap wrench would work on removing the oil filter cap on a 2003 saturn vue?
I heard that it calls for a 32mm socket but I have also heard of people using a strap wrench to remove the plastic nut on top of the housing.
A: Should work fine.
Q: My 2003 Saturn Vue is making a noise when I turn the steering wheel?
I was told it could possibly be low on steering fluid so I got some and went to put it in but couldn't find where. Then I looked online and now I'm finding that it's an electric system and doesn't need maintenance and any problem would turn the check engine light on. The light isn't on and when I turn it sounds almost like a loud zip tie... I have no idea what to do and can't afford to take it anywhere, please help!!
A: LOW ON FLUID OR PUMP FAILURE. POSSIBLY NEEDS A BELT?
Q: How to remove service (icon wrench ) light dashboard of 2003 saturn vue ?
A: Well first off fix the problem that made the light come on in the first place, of course :)
But then you'll have to take the car to the dealership or garage that has a diagnostics tool. They can reset the fault codes stored in the cars computer using that tool.
Q: Does anyone publish a repair manual for a 2003 Saturn Vue?
I've checked Haynes and Chilton's and came up with nothing. I'd be happy with a good website with torque and timing specs. Anyone know of a good website or if the books are published?
A: Likely you'll have to buy the factory manuals...try eBay...therre are sets for sale there now.
Good luck.
Q: Which fuse operates the tail lights and the dash light for a 2003 Saturn Vue?
I don't have a owners manuel so we can not look it up and it does not show on the diagrams on the car
A: The un-asked question here seems to be "How do i find the (blown) fuse because the lights do not work???
Lacking a manual I recommend that you purchase a test light for $5-10 at the local auto parts store. Use the test light to check both sides of every fuse with the engine running and the headlights on. When you find the fuse on which only one side of the fuse lights the test light you have found the bad/blown fuse. Replace it with a fuse of the same rating.
Q: How do I find out if my 2003 Saturn Vue runs on Ethanol gas?
A: Call a local saturn dealer, ask to speak to service or parts, give them the last 8 digits of the Vin Number, and ask them if it is a "flex fuel" vehicle. If it is, it will run on gas, e-15, or e-85. If it isn't, then its gas only.
Q: My key seems to get stuck in the ignition of my 2003 Saturn Vue? About 6 mos. ago I could not turn the key?
or pull it out so had to have it towed & they replaced the cylinder in the steering column. It seems to be having a similar problem although not when it's cooler, only when the vehicle is hot, sitting in the sun.
A: Shoot some WD-40 in the lock and on the key or run over to the dealer and ask what they use to free up a lock!
Q: 2003 Saturn VUE 4cyl., HORN is STUCK. Disabled AIR BAG, opened steering wheel, how do I get airbag cover off?
Steering housings are off but the short is in the steering wheel
contacts, in the rubber cover over the airbag. How do I remove
the rubber airbag cover on the steering wheel?
Brooks
A: it sounds like you need a clock spring. DO NOT pull the cover off your air bag. this can be very dangerous. what you are asking should be done by a trained tech.
Q: 2003 Saturn Vue...Rear of car bumps around and feels loose. What could it be?
It has 90,000 miles and new tires...A few months ago my husband replace something in the front (shocks maybe).
Anyway I don't want to take it to Saturn just yet to get it looked at because they will charge me $50 just to look at it and who knows how much to fix. I plan on selling car in next 6 months.
A: I agree that the rear shocks might be the problem, but there may be something broken in the suspension also. Reason being is that if you have been hauling really heavy loads in the back, you can break a suspension component (Like my brother did when he filled the back of his with engine parts)
so if you want to be safe, you should at least have a mechanic (not necessarily the dealer) look at it to insure that nothing is broken or has come loose. Also check for any bushings that may be worn out back there. Not a bad idea to check the front bushings such as the sway bar also.
Q: Has anyone ever heard of engine problems with the 3.0 v6 in a 2003 Saturn Vue?
A friend of mine has one and somehow installed the oil filter wrong and has developed an upper engine tick, almost knock. I do know that when GM used this engine in Saabs and it was a piece of junk from day one. Does anyone know of anything that this might be (cam follower/lifter)?
A: Saturn engines like the one in the Vue is not known for having any common problems.
If the oil filter was installed wrong then that should be the problem.
Did you use the wrong type of gas? If the car requires premium and you use regular, the engine makes a knocking sound like the one you are describing.
Q: my 2003 saturn vue idles rough and the radiator fan stays on. Any similar experiences?
The fan is suppose to turn on and off as needed.
A: Hot engine, low coolant?
Q: 2003 Saturn Vue won't start - rapid clicking sounds?
Drove absolutely fine last night, won't start today. Nothing was left on, battery has full power. It doesn't even try to turn over, just makes a clickity-clickity-clickity sound. Not sure if it matters, but it's a 4-cyl, manual trans.
My husband connected a battery charger to it and it was over 80%.
A: Sure sounds like the battery to me.. Check if terminal connections are clean and tight if you are positive the battery has a full charge
